  Should the rich help the poor more?

  To me, the rich already help the poor. All government programs that assist the disadvantaged are funded by tax money paid mainly ... by the rich.

  The wealthy often employ the common worker and again pay for such things as Workers Comp, Unemployment insurance, and other benefits. Many businesses obtain capital needed to grow by selling stock to ... the rich

  Charity fund raisers are attended by and supported by those of greater means. I could go on ...

  If a person wishes to believe the Bible: Matthew 26 suggests that no matter how much you contribute "you always have the poor." Apparently, it has never been anyone's purpose to share the wealth completely.

  "Gold would all be worthless if we all had gold to spare."

  That's my read.

  Hi i'm back..again!

  hi everyone i haven't been on here for a year!

  i've just been looking at some of the topics i started god i was mixed up... since getting reinstated i left and went back twice even had a bible study again at one piont!

  all for my family, i love them so much they do so muxh for me and love me but show quite clearly how brokenhearted they are that im not at the meetings that makes me feel bad so i go back... after a little while thats not good enough they want me to go with the right heart condition and 'do it properly!'.

  Pick your poison ...

  It seems unfair yet so many times in life we must choose the lesser of two evils based on our personal needs. Which pluses outweigh which minuses? Many times religious love is conditional and it comes down to whether one can live without that support syystem or not ... that is why so many seem to "waffle" in and out of the organization. My personal view is that there is good and bad in either choice. I hope you can endure.

  i know of a case where a ms is living net door to his mother and father.

  his dad is a elder and mom is a long time pioneer.

  he no longer attends meetings and has many "wild" parties and also has a live in girlfriend.

  True story:

  There was Father-Son elder combo in Ohio. The son would go into the bathroom during meetings and sit in a stall for long periods of time. He could be heard cursing profanely behind the divider.

  Well, on two different occasions this troubled son stood up at an elder's meeting, cursed, resigned, and walked out ... followed in the parking lot by his controlling Father. Of course the congregation never knew about this young man's distain. Now both times he apologized and recanted his resignation from the body. Why?

  It turns out that old Dad was the son's only means of support. He provided him with a business, a home, and the promise of an inhereitance, PROVIDED, the boy keeps up the family inage. So, he sold out.

  What's the point? Just like the Nation of Isreal in the Old Testament, the unwritten rule is "Family First, God Second." The prevalence of nepotism in this organization is sometimes overlooked.

  Sorry if I offended. Submission to means turning oneself over to others who in kind turn themselves over to me ...

  It is an unselfish bond that breaks only when one or the other " takes control."

  The most important aspect of love, for me, is the statement in Corinthians that "Love does not look out for it's own interests"

  If, perhaps, someone has used you or abused your trust ... that is sad. I will try not to ...
